Assets and image variables
Upload supported images in the app, copy tags, understand visibility, ownership, and deletion.
DocumentationUpload reusable images in the Landit application, then copy their user_asset.<slug> references into templates. Asset visibility controls who can use an asset in Landit; a rendered image URL is not a private access boundary.
Upload an image
Open the assets screen, choose a recognizable name, select the file, and set its workspace sharing preference. After saving, confirm the image loads and copy the displayed identifier.
Use PNG or JPEG for images you want to use in AI-authored templates. Manual uploads also accept SVG for other template uses. If a file is rejected, the upload message explains what to change.
<img src="{{ user_asset.hero_image }}" alt="Our product in use">
hero_image is an example. Copy the exact variable tag displayed after saving your image.
Check sharing
Private assets belong to the owner’s accessible context. Shared assets can be used by teammates in the workspace. Changing a shared asset to private is blocked when another user’s template or Page, or a shared template, depends on it.
If the change is blocked, inspect the reported dependency and replace its references before retrying. Do not assume that making an asset private invalidates image URLs already shared externally.
Use assets through MCP
Prepare uploads in the app. MCP can change sharing for an owned asset. Public API upload instructions remain outside the supported documentation scope.
