update_asset_sharing
update_asset_sharing sets an owned asset’s workspace visibility. It changes data, but repeating the same desired setting is idempotent.
MCPExample prompt
Use update_asset_sharing to share my Landit asset [asset-slug]
with my workspace. Set shared to true and show the saved sharing
setting and variable tag.
Replace [asset-slug] with the exact slug of an asset you own. This example changes the asset’s workspace sharing setting.
Arguments
| Name | Type | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
slug |
Nonempty string | Exact slug of an asset owned by the user. | |
shared |
Boolean | true for workspace sharing, false for private reuse. |
{"slug": "product_image", "shared": true}
Confirm the intended asset and visibility before calling. Access to a teammate’s shared asset does not imply ownership or permission to change it.
Result
The result contains slug, name, variable, shared, and url. Check that the returned setting matches the request. The variable field identifies the reference to use in templates.
Errors and dependencies
asset_not_found means the owned asset was not found. asset_update_invalid returns validation details, including cases where making an asset private would remove access needed by shared templates, teammates’ templates, or teammates’ Pages.
Resolve the dependency deliberately rather than retrying unchanged. A sharing setting controls availability inside Landit; it does not establish that previously rendered image URLs are inaccessible to their recipients.
Uploads are handled through the application asset guide, without relying on beta API instructions.
